Routes around Litton, Tideswell and the Peak District

Walking

Short walking route 3.8 km (2.4 miles)
This walking route skirts the edge of Litton conservation area, passing on the south side the Old Hosiery Factory and on the north Litton Edge. From here you can see the medieval strip fields as well as the tops of Peters Dale and Monsal Dale.

Medium walking route 9.9 km (6.1 miles)
Leaving Litton by Bottomhill road this route then descends to Litton Dale and on though Tideswell Dale (a SSSI) to Millers Dale. Here the route passes though Litton Mill and along the river Wye to Cressbrook Mill pond. Leaving Cressbrook Mill the route climbs a short section of road before descending to Ravens Dale, then crossing the valley it climbs to give a panoramic view along the dale. Descending to the stepping stones at the foot of Tansley Dale and returns to Litton via Tansley Dale.

Mountain biking: Occasionally there may be sections of footpath that are included in the routes due to safety considerations (busy roads, etc.), in these sections riders should dismount and push their bikes at all times.
